The 2nd “Understanding China” Conference comes to the preparatory stage

    The 2nd “Understanding China” Conference has come to the preparatory stage. Yesterday morning, Guo Jinlong, Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, discussed with the CIIDS delegation led by Chairman Zheng. The CIIDS is responsible for the preparation.

    Mr. Zheng praised the efforts made by Beijing in serving and safeguarding major national events. He said that the successful parade to commemorate 70th anniversary of the victory of Chinese People's Anti-Japanese War and the World Anti-Fascist War was universally inspiring, fully demonstrating the prestige of the country and its army, and Beijing’s performance in service and security should be appreciated. As the preparatory stage of the Conference has begun, he hoped that Beijing could give strong support in terms of service and security. The CIIDS will strengthen collaboration with Beijing to ensure a foolproof plan of action.

    Mr. Guo briefed on the development of Beijing. He stated that as the Capital of China, Beijing had internalized its functional positioning as the political and cultural center of China as well as the center for international exchange and innovation. It was the duty of Beijing to serve and safeguard the smooth convening of important international conferences held in the city. The 2nd “Understanding China” International Conference was an essential international event, providing us with a podium to make China heard and its story told. Beijing is selected as the Conference site, an acknowledgement to its ability. We will fully collaborate and actively carry out the relevant work to ensure the Conference of a successful completion, and will take this event as an opportunity to build the city into a pool gathering international events, further enhancing Beijing's capacity for international exchange.
